Cirkus Review: Despite seeing Ranveer Singh in a double role, people did not laugh

Released in the year 1982, the film Angoor, directed by Gulzar, and starring Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma, tickled a lot. Sanjeev and Deven Verma were both in double roles in this film inspired by the great playwright Shakespeare's play Comedy of Errors. Now, almost forty years later, Rohit Shetty has made a Cirkus by taking the rights of the Angoor. They have changed the setting, but the story's core remains the same.

However, Rohit Shetty, who has given entertaining films like the Golmaal series, Singham, and Simmba, has not been able to make Cirkus entertaining. He has tried to connect the cirkus with the Golmaal series, which he has already given a glimpse of in the trailer.

What is the story of the cirkus?

The story begins in the year 1942. Dr. Rai Jamnadas (Murli Sharma) and Jai Jamnadas (Uday Tikker), who grew up in the Jamnadas Ashram, take care of the children who grow up in the Ashram. In the ashram, two sets of twins are adopted by two families. Dr. Rai wants to prove that the meaning of relationships is not of blood, but of upbringing. That's why the relatives exchange the children and give them up for adoption by calling them, twins.

A couple is espoused by the Shenay family, a well- known industrialist in Bangalore. The family running the cirkus in Ooty to the other. The special thing is that both families name their sons Rai( Ranveer Singh) and Jai( Varun Sharma) after Rai and Jai. Brought up in Bangalore, a couple is running the family business. Rai is in love with Bindu( Jacqueline Fernandez). At the same time, after the death of the father, the alternate couple takes over their cirkus. Rai, who works in the cirkus, is notorious as Electric Man.

Actually, he is not affected by the electric current, while at the same time a tremendous current runs through the body of the other person. The person who touches it feels a tremendous current. Rai's wife Mala (Pooja Hegde), who runs a cirkus, changes her name and writes novels. Dr. Rai's eyes are constantly on both pairs. Trouble begins when the Bangalore couple leaves for Ooty. Situational comedy happens when there is a situational change in the double-role characters, but the weak script makes the story funny here.

Writers Farhad Samji, Vidhi Dhodgaonkar, and Sanchit Bendri have taken a lot of time to establish the characters from the interval till the first. There are no moments of laughter in him. Even when the characters are swapped after the interval, he fails to make us laugh.

Ranveer Singh could not do wonders even after double role
Attempts to distort Urdu, and English languages to create humor, fail. A song like 'Aao Twist Karein' doesn't sound catchy anywhere. The story is around the sixth decade of the last century, but that era is not felt anywhere on the screen. Some of the hit film songs of that time have been used in the background of the film, which does not seem to be consistent with the story.

The VFX of the film is also very bad. Despite playing a double role, Ranveer Singh fails to impress. The writers and directors have failed to differentiate between their characters despite being in different environment and environments. The scene when their characters meet should have been exciting. He was very quiet.

The script of 'Cirkus' is weak

The character of Mala (Pooja Hegde), the wife of electrician Rai, who is distraught about adopting a child, has also not become interesting. The attraction of the film has been Sanjay Mishra and Siddharth Jadhav. The item song Current Laga is catchy. However, this cirkus is pointless.
